Effective February 29, 2016, Soldiers Memorial Military Museum has closed for renovations. The Soldiers Memorial Military Museum in downtown St. Louis, at 1315 Chestnut Street is operated by the Missouri Historical Society.
There is a large black anchor and chain from the U.S.S. Langley that is a memorial to the Merchant Marines that was dedicated in 2004. Currently the City of St. Louis, Missouri History Museum and the Missouri Historical Society are overseeing a massive renovation to the site.
